Annual General Election
The AGM of the Welsh Norwegian Society is to be held at the Norwegian Church and Arts Centre and is open for all members to attend.
As well as ensuring the core business of the Society is conducted in line with the constitution there will also be the usual informal coffee and wonderful cakes for everyone to enjoy.
Please make every effort to attend to ensure the Welsh Norwegian Society can continue to flourish into the future and meet the needs of its community.
The AGM will be followed by a performance at the Norwegian Church by visiting choir Kor på Randen from Stavanger and we are especially pleased that they will be visiting South Wales this September. It ties in so well with our celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Norwegian Church - the first Pastor sent from Norway to Cardiff in 1866 was Lars Oftedal of Stavanger.
He later returned and became the founder of the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad, and a campaigner for social reform inspired by his time in South Wales.
After Kor på Randen have performed for us at the Norwegian Church, we are all invited to accompany them to Wales Millennium Centre, where they will give a free performance on the Glanfa stage in the foyer area, together with their sister choirs – the Abertillery Orpheus Choirs.
